Follow these steps to Setup and Configure Drive on your Windows PC or Laptop

How it works

Your Private Cloud comes with a Drive App that continuously synchronizes files and folders between your Private Cloud and your computers (Windows and MacOS), laptops and mobile devices (Apple and Android).

Setup is nearly the same on Windows and MacOS, so we included the Windows experience here.

First, install the Drive App, then designate the files and folders to synchronize.

Next, in your favorite browser navigate to binit.[your domain].com, provided by your administrator

Choose Sign In

Click the Main Menu Icon and choose Drive

Choose Get Drive apps now

Click For PC

Setup the Drive App on your Computer

Next, configure the Drive App, to designate those files and folders to synchronize between your Private Cloud and your computers and/or laptops

In Drive enter the internet address of your Private Cloud, privatecloud.[your domain].com, and your login credentials, provided by your administrator. Leave everything else as-is

Choose the uppericon to designate a Folder located on your Private Cloud

For example, a Sub-Folder: Chilpancingo Vista

Choose the lowericon to designate a Local Folder located on your Computer

Next:

  1. Navigate to Documents

  1. Click on the  folder

  2. Replace with Private Cloud

  1. Clear the checkbox Create an empty Synology Drive Folder

Choose Next, Maybe later and Done

Enjoy synchronized data between your Private Cloud <-> Your Computer

Launch the utility by clicking on the  Drive Client icon from the system tray

View records of file uploads and downloads and notifications on the tray panel

Sync files, view history versions and get share links

1. Open the sync folders by clicking the folder icon on the tray panel

2. In Windows File Explorer, macOS Finder, Linux File Browser, you can drag the files into the sync folder. The files will be synced over your Synology NAS and connected clients.

3. Right-click on a synced file and select Synology Drive > Get link to share the file with others.

4. Select Drive > Browse previous versions to find the version you want to download and click on the download icon

Download or restore a previous version of a synced file

1. Go to the Drive web portal and locate the file or folder you want to restore. Right-click on the file and select History

2. Find the version you want and click the vertical ellipsis

3. You can choose to Download the selected version or click Restore and the current version will be overwritten

4. You can also download or restore a previous version by going to  Drive Admin Console > Overview > Version Explorer

Important notes:
  1. We recommend keeping historical versions of your files. Consult with BizCare to make changes to version control

  2. In Global Settings, you can configure whether a file removed from your computer will be re-fetched from your NAS or be deleted on your NAS when relinking takes place

  3. Please refrain from manually copy files from your computer to your PrivateCloud and vice versa. To ensure the efficiency of future data synchronization, Drive autonomously scans each synced file for changes.

  4. It takes a significant amount of time to finish the initial synchronization. The time needed depends on the number of files and your computer
